RICHMOND, VA (12/4/2015) – K12 Enterprise employees donated a carload of gifts to a local family as part of the Powhatan Christmas Mother program.
Gifts for the mother, three children (all under the age of 9), and two dogs included clothes, toys, and gift cards to Food Lion, Walmart, Powhatan Pharmacy, and PetSmart.
The goal of the Powhatan Christmas Mother, a volunteer organization registered with the Better Business Bureau of Central Virginia, is to provide gifts and food to families in need, especially children and the elderly. Businesses in the community are encouraged to “adopt” local families on an anonymous basis.
Jean Kingery, K12 Enterprise’s Office Manager, has coordinated the company-wide donation effort for the past three years. “We wanted to make an impact in our own community for the holidays, and participating in the Powhatan Christmas Mother program is the perfect way to do that,” she said. “We’re glad that we can help make a difference to a local family in need.”
