K12 enterprises

K12 Enterprise, Microsoft’s leading financial and human resource management software for K-12 school systems has been selected by YES Prep to streamline the Texas charter school system’s state reporting processes and improve the efficiencies of its human resource and payroll management systems.

YES Prep is a free, open-enrollment public charter school system serving over 4,200 students across eight schools in the Greater Houston area.

“Our goal at K12 Enterprise is to improve the business of managing schools so administrators can focus more of their efforts on teachers, students, and the community,” says Andrew Fass, CEO of K12 Enterprise. “YES Prep has a wonderful mission of providing a strong college prep education to low-income students. We are delighted to help the school district fulfill that commitment by providing efficient operating systems.”

YES Prep’s shift to K12 Enterprise resulted largely from a need to improve its state reporting processes, as well as a desire to have more efficient human resource and payroll systems.

The district selected K12 Enterprise in part because the product is built on Microsoft Dynamics NAV software, which is enhanced with additional functionality specifically for school systems. YES Prep was also pleased with K12 Enterprise’s ability to easily interface with other software already in place throughout the district’s business operations. They were also impressed with K12 Enterprise’s comprehensive ERP solution, which includes state reporting, human resources, and payroll functionality in one software package.

YES Prep began deployment of K12 Enterprise in late 2010. The initial K12 Enterprise implementation will focus on state reporting, human resources, and payroll functionality. YES Prep will be moving its financials to K12 Enterprise in the coming months.

“School systems have very specific requirements for which they are held accountable, so it is vital they manage them accurately,” notes Fass. “Initially, K12 Enterprise is working with YES Prep to simplify their state reporting compliance. But we are looking forward to helping them streamline other aspects of their school system’s operations in the near future.”
